LeaderLocation: Southern CAThe Southern California Business
Development Leader will find new opportunities for the Los Angeles
and Costa Mesa offices. You will be the face of Marcum in the
market place. Based out of the Los Angeles office, you will use
your extensive professional referral network to find new
opportunities and bring the appropriate partner to help close it.
You will work closely with the Senior Marketing Coordinator and the
Regional Marketing Director throughout the sales process; from
initial meeting to proposal creation all the way through engagement
letter signing and collection of the retainer. You are the guardian
of the new business process. Although rare out of town travel is
required many functions after hours are required. You will be
focused on capturing SEC/public company, M&A and private
company work.Responsibilities
- Networking
- Possesses a strong network of personal contacts.
- Develops prospects from current customers, referral leads or
sales/trade meetings.
- Observes, receives, and otherwise obtains information from all
relevant sources.
- Uses creativity and alternative ways of thinking to develop new
contacts.
- Knowledge of the Firm
- Is knowledgeable about the Firm's various service lines and who
key leaders are.
- Keeps abreast of industry activity and key news items.
- Internal Professional Relationships & Service
- Models and reinforces customer service behaviors.
- Effectively diffuses/de-escalates difficult or confrontational
situations.
- Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships
with others, and maintains them over time.
- Firm Visibility
- Positively represents the Firm on programs or objectives.
- Is a role model representing Marcum at events and social
gatherings.
- Communicates with people outside the organization, representing
the Firm to customers.
- Identifies Cross Selling Opportunities
- Contacts prospective customers to present information and
explain available services.
- Assists in Developing Competitive Marketing Strategies
- Coordinates presentations on the Firm to groups to attract new
clients.
- Identifies what needs to be done and takes action before being
asked or required to. Is polite and patient in dealing with people,
stays calm and professional in emotionally charged situations.

- Deduces appropriate avenues of inquiry or sources of
information from clues.
- Gathers and weighs all pertinent information before making

resolve difficult or confrontational situations.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required. MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years of selling experience or 5+ years of selling
experience in professional services.
- Experience working as a Commercial Banker is a plus.
- Business Development experience selling for industries such as
legal, financial and accounting services.
- Possesses knowledge of principles and processes for providing
customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting
quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer
satisfaction.
- Possesses knowledge of economic and accounting principles and
practices, the financial markets, banking and analysis and
reporting of financial data.
- Demonstrates skill in resolving difficult situations.
- Possesses knowledge of business and management principles
involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Demonstrates willingness to do what it takes to get the job
done.
- Demonstrates willingness to help with projects.
- Communicates effectively in writing and verbally as appropriate
