8:30 am to 4:30 pm$25 to $30 per hour, Depending on
experienceTemporary position for up to four months, beginning
immediately.GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITIONUnder general supervision,
the Medical Records Technician assists the Health Services Director
in maintaining the facility's clinical record system and assists in
implementing record procedures for the Clinical Records Unit. As a
representative and team member of the company, this position is
expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects
professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction.Essential
FunctionsThe following duties are normal for this position. These
are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required
and assigned.Work Duties
- Gather patient information by collecting information from a
variety of sources; interacting with registration and admissions
and physicians offices
- Completing assigned portion of daily audit trail; corrects and
communicates problems according to established procedures
- Maintain record availability and purge as required
- Retrieve medical records as needed by various authorized
professionals, following chart-out procedures; documenting
reasons
- Maintain continuity of work operations by documenting and
communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Maintains the facility's clinical record system and assists in
implementing record procedures;
- Performs quantitative and qualitative audits for compliance
including: patients' charts; medical records for physician
telephone orders, physician monthly order, advanced directive
status, lab tests and other assigned audits.
- Conduct Electronic Medication Admin Record (EMAR) Audit
- Maintain patient confidentiality by keeping patient records
information confidential in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Enhance medical records and community reputation by accepting
ownership for accomplishing new and different requestsKnowledge
-
- The principles, practices and methods of medical records
administration as reflected in the Medicare and MediCal
regulations;
- Medical terminology so as to comprehend medical records and
reports;
- Hospital operating policies and procedures and how to apply
them effectively;
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and assigning codes to
diagnoses and procedures ICD 9-CM & CPT.
- Techniques used in the health care facility admissions
process.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a certificate or 2-year associate's degree in MT
or HIM, or 3-5 years medical records clerk or technician equivalent
experience in a skilled nursing or hospital
setting.Experience/Training
- Two years or more experience; or any equivalent combination of
training and experience which provides the required skills,
knowledge and abilities working with medical records,
- Experience in a long-term care skilled nursing SNF or hospital
setting and applicable long-term care and acute care medical
records protocols
- Prior experience in a retirement community with RCFE Title 22
