Job Description:

The Tech Instructional Assistant will join an innovative school team to support, transform and improve our schools integration of technology in the classrooms. The Tech IA will work with the school principal and teachers; the teammate will serve both as a teaching assistant and a person who can provide tech support and troubleshoot in the classrooms as we pilot new technology in our classrooms.

Success in this position requires an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving, experience with strategic program improvement, success in collaborating with teachers, and empathy to understand the challenges faced during distance learning.


* Supports teachers and students' use of technology in the classroom by performing basic technology troubleshooting functions and coaching on use of technology as needed * Supports Testing Coordinator with assessing students regularly in accordance with Aspire guidelines and analyze assessment data * Supports software-based assessments, including managing an assessment schedule, administering the assessment, and supporting with makeup assessments. * Collaborate with Aspire team members to improve own and others' instructional practices; share best practices * Support tracking critical student information and maintain accurate student records, including attendance, in accordance with Aspire procedures * Manages school-wide computer fleet by serving as the point-person for inventory, set up, and act as a liaison with Aspire IT * Supports Admin and Educators conduct professional development with teachers on student data and technology programs and independently manages use of these programs * Maintains school-wide culture of excellence around online learning, including practices such as school-wide awards, individual and class incentives, and ensuring that best practices around technology. Observes best practices within school and in other schools to provide more context and feedback to teachers as needed. * Maintains the school's online platforms to promote the culture of excellence and showcase the schools mission, vision and values. * Communicates the proper use and purpose of technology tools and resources to parents and families, and informs these stakeholders of potential at-home resources. * Support classroom systems/procedures to ensure all students are fully engaged in digit learning * Collaborates with Aspire team members to improve own and others' instructional practices; shares best practices * Actively participates in professional development activities related to technology, school culture, and/or instructional practices * Supports a school-wide culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students * Supports Aspire IT with basic computer setup and maintenance * Demonstrates knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior * Perform other related duties as required and assigned


Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

* Strong facility with technology software and hardware. * Ability and willingness to reflect and improve * Positive attitude and friendly demeanor with ability to build relationships with teachers, manage school-wide initiatives. * Ability to troubleshoot computer issues; inquisitive workstyle and desire to get to the root of technology issues. * Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles * Ability and willingness to reflect and improve * Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community * Comfortable with experimentation and trying new ideas; able to learn and adjust quickly

Minimum educational level:

* Associate's degree or successful completion of 48 units of college credit or passing of Paraprofessional Test * Bachelor's degree in Education, Teaching, or related field preferred

Experience required:

* 2+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred

Work authorization requirements:

* Clear the Department of Justice background screening * Authorized to work in the United States * Provide health (TB) clearance (update every four years)

Physical requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be reasonably met by a Tech Instructional Assistant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

* Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height. * Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time. * Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone. * See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. * Read and understand rules and policies, labels, and instructions. * Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone. * Verbal communications, including the ability to speak and hear at normal room levels and on the telephone

Aspire Public Schools has implemented a Remote Work policy, limiting on-site office availability. Therefore, employees must have the ability to work remotely regularly. This position may also require periodic travel to school sites in order to interact with school leaders.
