Job Description:
Under the direction of AltaMed's Family Medicine Residency
Program, Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency
Program, and Site Medical Director, core faculty members serve as
clinical educators ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching,
scholarship and patient care as part of an ACGME accredited
Residency program. Core Faculty members will dedicate an average of
twenty-four (24) hours per week to residency supervision and
training, ensuring that all requirements are met, while providing
excellent clinical care. Core faculty will be expected to provide a
minimum of sixteen (16) hours per week of direct patient care. Core
faculty will receive annual training on a variety of topics
including (but not limited to): (a) all relevant policies and
procedures, (b) the evaluation and assessment of residents, (c)
core competencies and milestones and (d) faculty development.

requirements.Supports the partnerships with academic and hospital
partners.Participates in AltaMed strategic planning efforts that
support the increase of bi-lingual, culturally competent providers
to AltaMedResponsible for developing, delivering and providing an
engaging learning curriculum and environment.Responsible for
developing, utilizing and contributing to the ACGME
competency-based curriculum for residents on didactic and clinical
education.Actively participates in faculty development
activities.Supervise Family Medicine residents, following
procedures for appropriate trainee levels of supervision and
requirements for residency training (Supervision Policy) to ensure
patient safety and high quality care at all times.Accountable for
monitoring resident work hours, paying close attention to signs of
Fatigue and Sleep Deprivation in individuals; if signs of fatigue
are identified, faculty are required to follow the protocol
outlined in the Fatigue Mitigation Policy.Serve as a role model for
residents and staff in all facets of work.Evaluate Family Medicine
residents in a timely manner using competency based/milestone
evaluations and via direct observation and other relevant
evaluation methods.Coordinate and update relevant
didacticsSupervise Family Medicine Residents QA/QI and research
activities as required/appropriateMentor and coach residents,
advise them regarding their career and educational goalsActively
serve and participate on relevant committeesParticipate regularly
in scheduled didactics (including, but not limited to: journal
clubs, lectures, interdisciplinary conferences,
workshops)Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly work, both on your
own and with residents.Demonstrate a strong interest in the
education of residents.dminister and maintain an educational
environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME
competency areas.Some members of the faculty should also
demonstrate scholarship by one or more of the following:
peer-reviewed funding; publication of original research or review
articles in peer reviewed journals, or chapters in textbooks;
publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at
local, regional, or national professional and scientific society
meetings; or, participation in national committees or educational
organizations.Other duties as assigned.Physician with current,
valid American Board of Family Medicine certification and an active
unrestrictive CA license to practice Family Medicine by the Medical
Board of California. (Physician faculty members from other
specialties must have current (American Board of Medical
Specialties) certification in their respective specialties.)A
minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine
preferred, preferably in a Federally Qualified Community Health
(FQHC).A chief residency year or medical education fellowship or a
minimum of 2 years of documented educational Residency Program
experience in an ACGME-or AOA accredited Family Medicine residency
program. Experience in a Teaching Health Center or Community-Based
Program preferred. Completion of a community medicine fellowship
preferred.Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
program in Public Health, Business or Health Care Administration,
or other related fields preferred.Experience in community
engagement preferred.
